HOBBES - Hands-On Boat-Based Education & Science - is a non-profit corporation founded in 1999 with the mission to provide boat-based marine science and environmental education programs for students, teachers and the general public. Our programs aim to teach marine ecology through natural phenomena and science-related social issues encountered in everyday life. HOBBES boat-based programs currently operate aboard the vessel Finback, a Coast Guard certified, 50-foot passenger vessel, which is central to our mission. Operating out of Salem, Massachusetts, the Finback provides a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating marine world revealed in the coastal waters of Massachusetts' North Shore.
